A quarter of a century sounds like a long time when stated that way, but it seemed to pass rather quickly. When Marleen and I started Billiot Photography and Video in 1995, I did not envision the journey on which we were about to embark for the next 25 years. Marleen was (and still is) my biggest fan and I could not have done this without her.
I give thanks to God for giving me the talent to do something I love as a vocation. While it is work, photography is also my passion, and I am grateful for having been given the opportunities granted to me.
Secondly, to all of my clients, family and friends who trusted me to capture some of life's most important events and precious moments of their lives, I am honored and forever in your debt for your unwaivering confidence in me.
My favorite type of event to work is a wedding. It is a joyous occasion, an electric atmosphere, and a place where I feel very comfortable. While my style has evolved slightly over the years, my goal of capturing my subject’s emotion and personality has not. Early on I strived to create images that told a story, conveyed a feeling or captured a mood.
I have learned over the years, to apply the same principles of my photojournalism background to all of my work, including children and family portraits.
I consider my work to be important and take my job very serious. I don’t want to miss a thing, and I want every shot to count. My goal is to capture that moment, where nothing else in the world matters. It's just you and the love of your life fixated on each other and time stands still. A once in a lifetime moment that is here for one instant and gone the next. That's why I do what I do.
It has been a privelage and an honor to serve everyone who has been in front of my camera this past quarter of a century, and I look forward to serving for many more years to come. Thank you all!
