The reason I like capturing infants on camera, is that I know the very next day, they will look different. At the moment I am photographing her, I am thinking, "this is the only time you will ever look like you do right now".
It is preferable, when photographing a newborn, to work with the baby when they are in a deep sleep. This is not accomplished in all sessions for a variety of reasons. I ask the parents to give me the best time of day for the baby, who at two weeks old, are on their own schedule. It is ideal that they eat just prior to, or just after I arrive, and they are rocked to sleep. Once they are sound asleep, it is possible to "mold" them into positions they wouldn't naturally get into on their own.
I will incorporate all the family members in photos with the newborn, and hope to create and capture some memorable moments that the family can enjoy and share with others.
I don't normally supply props, however, I will try to incorporate the baby's personal items that are unique to them.
For my past clients, I do offer a free family session to all my Brides and Grooms. Please take advantage of that if you haven't already. God Bless.
